Shaila Catherine’s work is closely affiliated with Bodhi Courses (bodhicourses.org) and Insight Meditation South Bay (imsb.org). We may share your contact information with these two entities, and the teacher: Shaila Catherine.
Most services listed on shailacatherine.org direct participants to an outside website for event registration, payments, and donations. The information you share on third party sites will be governed by the privacy practices of each particular site.

Mailing List and Contact Form
A name and an email address are required to fill out the Contact Us form on shailacatherine.com.
Since Shaila Catherine is not currently maintaining a personal mailing list, we may subscribe you to either the Bodhi Courses mailing list that uses Mailchimp as the marketing platform, or the Insight Meditation South Bay mailing list that uses Vertical Response as the marketing platform. Both of these mailing lists promote services and events offered by Shaila Catherine. We reserve the right to change marketing platforms at any time in the future.
How is your information used to keep you up-to-date with Shaila’s events and activities?
Our communications consist of emails announcing new courses, events, and services related to Shaila’s work.
What if you want to change your communications preferences at a later date?
Email messages sent through Mail Chimp or Vertical Response include a link to opt out of receiving future emails. You can also let us know of any changes to your communications preferences or request that we update your addresses. Please specify which mailing list you wish to be removed from. We do not sell or exchange your information beyond our association with Bodhi Courses and Insight Meditation South Bay (IMSB). We ensure that any third party we employ has a robust privacy policy and that appropriate compliance contracts are in place. How is your credit/debit card information processed?
Registrations for courses, payments, and donations are processed by PayPal or another payment processing party. Shailacatherine.com does not have access to your payment card details.
Transactions made using mailed checks or fund transfers are recorded in our records for bookkeeping purposes.
How secure is your information kept?
We take the care of your data seriously and undertake to protect your personal information by putting in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the data we collect.
In today’s cyber environment it is unfortunately not possible to completely guarantee against loss, misuse or alteration of data, for example in the event of a successful cyber-attack. However, should this scenario arise, we will contact you as soon as possible providing full details of any data that has been compromised.
How long will your information be kept?
Information related to courses and events is held in the database of the registration program to assist with current and future registrations. In addition, we save class rosters and service notes in our files in Drop Box indefinitely.
Donation information is held by ShailaCatherine.com, Bodhi Courses, or Insight Meditation South Bay in their databases for financial auditing purposes and to maintain a record of your support.
The right to be forgotten
You have the right to be ‘forgotten’, which means that if you submit a request to us, we will remove all the data that we hold on you from our systems. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Complete removal of information from our systems will result in the loss of all historic data.
If you have registered for a class or made a donation within the last 12 months the related organizations are required to retain your details for two years for administrative purposes. Records of financial transactions are held indefinitely for accountancy and audit purposes.
How can you see what information is held by ShailaCatherine.com?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you can request a report detailing the information we hold about you. To obtain a report, please contact us by email using bcanswers.
We will offer a full response to all information access requests within 60 days from when we receive your ID information (details below).
